Mass spectrometry
Presentation
The Mass Spectrometry instrumental cluster is open to all partners (academic or industrial, national or international) within the framework of services or collaborations.
Expertise:
- Measurement of molecular mass and structure identification of compounds in molecular and macromolecular chemistry
- Study of complex mixtures in combination with separation techniques
- Trace organic analysis
- Analysis by direct injection or LC-MS/MS
- Advice for access to national and European infrastructures
- Analysis of cultural heritage samples (paleoproteomics, ZooMS ...)
- Mass spectrometry imaging
For any analysis request, please send an email to the following address: pole-spectrometrie-masse_at_univ-lille.fr
Location
C4 Building, 2nd floor, office 206 – Cité Scientifique
59655 Villeneuve d’Ascq, France
Staff:
- Fabrice BRAY (Head of the cluster)
- Stéphanie FLAMENT
- Christophe PENVERNE
The Mass Spectrometry Division has four mass spectrometers capable of addressing questions ranging from the simplest (compound validation, mass identification) to the most complex (characterization of complex mixtures by LC-MS/MS).

Our platform is equipped with facilities enabling the biomolecular identification of bone and dental remains … from archaeological and palaeontological sites.
Our platform is one of the few facilities in the world offering services for ZooMS analysis, sex determination and the analysis of cultural heritage samples. It houses an AB Sciex 4800+ MALDI-TOF/TOF mass spectrometer, a Bruker 9.4 T MALDI/ESI FTICR mass spectrometer and a Thermo Scientific nanoHPLC Obritrap Q-exactive Plus. The platform is fully equipped to carry out protein extraction and purification for analysis, as well as sample preparation for stable isotope analysis.
Our platform is equipped with various software packages for processing ZooMS, sex determination and palaeoproteomics data, such as mmass, PAMPA, PEAKS 13 (BSI Informatics) and Mascot V3.0.
We offer service packages or collaboration opportunities for all these analyses.
You can find the leaflets on ZooMS analysis and sex determination.
